Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a State of the Arts license plate cost?
Each plate costs $32 in addition to your registration fee. For each plate purchased, a $20 tax-deductible donation is made directly to COCA. (If it is not time in your license plate's cycle to replace the metal license plate when you switch, you will pay a few additional dollars to substitute a specialty plate.)
How do I purchase a State of the Arts license plate?
When you renew your registration, just let them know that you want to replace your current license plate with a State of the Arts plate. You can purchase your license plate by mail, or in person at one of the tag offices in Leon County (https://www.flhsmv.gov/locations/leon/).
Do I have to wait for my annual renewal notice to switch?
No, you can purchase one, in person, at any time.
Can I personalize a State of the Arts license plate?
Yes. You can have up to seven characters, and will pay the usual fee for a personalized plate in addition to the specialty license plate cost.
Who designed the State of the Arts license plate?
The design for the plate was created by artist Steven Kline. See more of his work here.
